what’s the kid policy?

Due to the large number of little ones in our families (35 and counting!), we’ve decided to keep this event adults and soon-to-be-adults only. Our wedding planner can refer babysitters.

do we have a registry?

Nope. Considering the events of the past year and a half, we’ve decided to simplify and not have a registry. Your presence at the wedding is the gift.

why are we making you schlep to elk?

We considered a few different locations, but Mendocino came out on top for one reason: It’s almost exactly between Portland and Los Angeles, the two cities where our families have long histories. It’s a perfect symbol of our two families coming together. Look at it like this: One family would’ve have to travel no matter what; this way, it’s equally inconvenient for everyone.

are guests required to take a shuttle?

As many as possible. Here’s why: Highway 1 is narrow, twisty and poorly lit. It’s hard to keep your eyes on the road during the day because the views are like WOW, and there are no lamps at night, so after sunset just forget about it. And it’s rural, so no Uber or Lyft. We don’t want anyone driving that highway after hours of drinking. We know you. We love you. Take the shuttle.

what’s the plan for friday and sunday?

There will be a very casual welcome party from 5pm-8pm on Friday, October 8th at the Kenney House, the private residence at Cuffey’s Cove Ranch – same address as the wedding. We’ll be serving drinks and an early-bird dinner so you can get back to your hotels before dark. There won’t be a shuttle service for this event, so plan on driving or carpooling. We aren’t planning a Sunday brunch.

are we changing our names?

Nope. Shannon Murphy will remain Shannon Murphy, and Gordon Grout will remain Gordon Grout.
